STARK REALITY
In 1967, the United States Board on Geographic Names changed some of the names of 143 places throughout America from “Nigger” to “Negro.” Some were changed as recently as 2010. There was a Nigger Jim Hammock Bridge in Florida, Nigger Head Mountain in Texas, Dead Nigger Creek in west Texas, Nigger Bill Canyon in Utah, Free Nigger Point in Mississippi, Nigger Head Rock in Virginia, Niggerhead Mountain in California, etc. There still is Nigton,an abbreviated version of “Nigger Town,” in Texas today. The official “NIGGER” names still remain on some maps.
